Pandeiros
Our pandeiros are manufactured by hand in Portugal and Germany. We designed a light-weight instrument that feels good in the hand and sounds great. The skin is of first quality directly from Brazil, the frame is made of solid hardwood and the jingles are our own best-selling series of superb sounding combinations of metals. A unique feature on our pandeiros is the mechanism of changing the jingles. With this invention you can change the jingles easily without removing the skin.

All sound-examples are played by Matthias Haffner on different HP Pandeiros with new skins that are not modified in any way. The sound examples were recorded with an AKG 430 condenser microphone from above and a Shure SM 57 from below. The sound files are raw - no additional processing was used.

Punchy Pandeiro: HP Pandeiro with Real Pro Bag
The HP pandeiro is our answer to the growing demand for high quality handmade pandeiros. This pandeiro combines light weight with a thick skin and powerful jingles, giving you an instrument without compromise for any musical setting. All the parts of the pandeiro are manufactured with the highest level of craftmanship. The Pandeiro comes in two variants: Sweet Cherry and Wicked Walnut. Sometimes we use other woods as well. The Sweet Cherry is a lower frame for smaller hands.
All our Pandeiros come with the Real Pro Bag, a set of 5 Damping Dudes, tuning key and Allen key (needed for changing the jingles).

J orginho: HP Choro Pandeiro with Real Pro Bag
The HP Choro Pandeiro "Jorginho" is modeled after the pandeiros of master Jorginho do Pandeiro from Rio de Janeiro. He was a legend and the creator of the modern pandeiro technique.
Our Choro Pandeiro has a 10,5" diameter and six pairs of specially designed brass jingles, to replicate the sound and feel of the pandeiros that Jorginho played. The flat aluminium ring stands a bit proud of the skin to give the player a better grip. We also offer this model with a conventional round ring.
This pandeiro has incredible projection from the jingles and massive punch from the skin. It is loud, bright and powerful.
We offer the Choro Pandeiro in Wicked Walnut and Sweet Cherry frames.

Platinelas (Jingles)
We offer several different sets of jingles. Each one can be made to fit a slot height of 12mm, 13mm, 14mm and 15mm. For example, our C series is named C12, C13, C14 and C15 depending on the height of the slot into which it is to fit. The basic set includes five (5) “pairs“ of jingles, in total 20 pieces of metal (each “pair“ is made up of 4 individual pieces), except for the A-series. Most pandeiros with a diameter of 10 inches will have five pairs of jingles, while most pandeiros with a diameter of 11“ will have six pairs and so forth. If you need more than five pairs just let us know and we supply as many as you need (choose the amount from the drop-down menu).

The A series is made of aluminium. It is different from all our other jingles both in sound and composition. It has six pieces of metal, some of them recycled, and the sound it produces is dry and shaker-like. It is pleasant and full in character but with little projection. This jingle is great for funky stuff with low bass tones.

B
B series: Classic Brass
The B series is a brass jingle, a common choice on many handmade pandeiros. Its sound is clean and bright and easily heard. An all-round jingle suitable to any style of music. It is the heaviest of our platinelas.

The Studio Brass is a super light-weight jingle with crispy attack and lots of precision. The tone is mellower than the Studio Silver. An excellent choice for delicate technique, studio work or simply a light, easy playing instrument.

The C series has one brass and one bronze jingle. The character of it is clear and precise, with a rich and full sound. Projection is very good and the high frequencies are pleasant to the ears. The C series is designed for samba and choro, but it works equally well in any setting.

Kinky Copper is an all-copper series. Copper is a softer metal and it has a darker, quieter sound with less bite. It gives a full, rich tone and reacts fast because of the thin jingles.

This is our first Master series, developed for Marcos Suzano, the creator of the modern pandeiro technique. He plays our new series on his HP Pandeiro - a combination of new silver and thin brass with a hammered dot motive. Its sound is as crispy as it is cool, flirting with its fizzy presence like a giggle on a beach in Rio yet delivering funky beats to the sound of the favelas. Poetic? The S series is a set consisting of two jingles made out of new silver. The sound is refined and rich, with soft overtones. This set is very precise and reacts immediately to the gentlest touch. The S series is well suited for studio work. It is incredibly light-weight.
